Background:

In 2019, Singapore Airlines won Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice award, the online travel company’s highest recognition award, presented to only the top 1% of businesses in selected categories. In celebration, Singapore Airlines decided to launch two 360 videos featuring its new mascot – Myles. 

Innovation:

Vostok VR was selected as the main production studio for this experience primarily due to its extensive experiences in creating animated characters within 360 VR environments. These include tigress Talulah (add link to Nestle case) and Robot O (add link to UMW project). This project was filmed over a two-day shoot while the Singapore Airlines airplane was stationed in the service dock. Computer-generated clouds, the airplane and infographics were added in post-production. Myles’ body was specially rigged to allow its transition through the airplane.

Final delivery was done in 6k resolution, the highest supported by Oculus Go and Oculus Quest platforms.

Results:

  • Two 360 videos were filmed in 6K resolution;

  • Interactive 360 experience was delivered for events and exhibitions;

  • Ongoing project for a web-based version of 360 video walkthrough.
