 Background:

Having recently opened an office in Seoul, South Korea, Vostok VR has been shortlisted in K-Startups top 50 most promising startups. As a part of this expansion, our team has started to work with international companies based in South Korea. We have been excited to bring our expertise to Uber Food which was fighting to increase its presence in the food delivery business here. An essential part of all food delivery companies is their food drivers. Vostok VR worked with the team at Uber Food to devise a plan to create short 360 video ads for Facebook to help Uber Korea to recruit new delivery drivers and increase awareness of what flexibility drivers have while working in the food delivery business.

Innovation:

Each commercial would last no more than 90 seconds - research suggests this is the maximum duration that 70-80% of the people are willing to watch for 360 ads online. As soon as the main concept was developed, the Vostok VR filming crew flew to Korea for a shoot.

The whole production took eight hours, including statics and moving (food delivery) scenes. Filming involved a total of three actors and featured three different locations in Seoul. In post production, all 2D animation and on-screen app animation was added.

Results:

  • 90 seconds video was created in two formats (2D for Instagram and 360 for Facebook);

  • Whole Interactive VR experience take 20 minutes to fully explore;

  • Ongoing project for Oculus Quest transition for upcoming Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia (MSAM) which attracted 163,000 visitors last year.

Platform Used:

  • Facebook 360 ads;

  • Instagram 2D video (360 video converted to 2D format).
