AUGMENTED REALITY & WEBAR

Although augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) seem to be related, they are quite different technologies. In VR, viewers mostly rely on artificial computer generated images (CGI) to fuel their experience. In AR we see the real world “augmented” by layering text, video and computer graphic on existing reality. AR is typically developed into apps and used on mobile devices to blend digital components into the real world in such a way that they enhance one another.

Although the most prominent case study in AR is Pokemon Go, customers in Singapore, Malaysia and all over ASEAN are now using the tool for B2B sales and market activations. Vostok VR has experience in multiple AR technologies, including QR-code based AR apps, WebAR, mobile ARCore, Apple's ARKit, Hololens, Facebook AR Studio and Magic Leap headset.

The potential of AR is expected to increase over the next few years as image quality and interactivity continue to improve. Additionally, the cost of AR is expected to decline as it becomes more mainstream, removing technology entry barriers for brands.

The main advantages of working with augmented reality:

  •       AR is accessible. Its affordability allows it to reach large audiences. Ninety percent of smartphone users can launch an AR app.

  •        AR creates limitless possibilities for presentations by creating a digital canvas for product enhancement.

  •       AR is a social experience and breaks out of the restriction of an enclosed headset. You can easily see your customer’s experience and guide them through product features.

Will AR work for your brand? It is hard to say without a personal consultation to understand your goals. AR may not be a magic bullet that provides immediate results, but it is a great tool that can bring synergy to your marketing efforts and B2B sales. We have assisted more than 100 customers in Singapore and Asia as they start their journey in these new technologies.
